A number of years ago, our local library sponsored a well-known children's author for a summer themed event. There were 11 of us there, two of whom were library employees. Then there was me, there to cover the event for my blog. The other 8 people were a couple of families. I don't think people who aren't involved with publishing in some way--writers, librarians, booksellers--have any idea how difficult it is for any writers, traditionally or self-published, to find an audience for their books.
