I have family members who made tourtierre, with pork, but only at Christmas time. Some cousins in Ottawa would get together at the beginning of December to make several to have after Christmas Eve Mass, serving it with beef gravy. I tried a number of variations at Christmas time for my American family. No one would eat it. I have to say I prefer poutine.
