I am the same age as the grandfathers I address in this humor piece. So I did directly experience the experience I mention here. I do PERSONALLY believe that childhood wasn't better when we were young. However, that line was not about my own belief but an attempt to satirize how older people often see their own past as golden, better than what is happening now. That has probably been going on since the beginning of time.
